Ombudsman calls for doubling efforts against violence against women

This Thursday. In the framework of the commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Venezuelan Ombudsman, Alfredo Ruiz, asked that greater efforts be made to eradicate all forms of violence against women, in the country,

According to a press release from his office, the defender explained that “it is a priority, a matter for everyone. Never again a woman beaten, abused, humiliated or belittled. Never again a woman alone and anguished because she does not know how to file a complaint or where to go, if she suffers violence.

He assured that the Ombudsman's Office "will accompany all citizens in this task." We will not rest, nor will there be peace in the world, as long as there is some type of violence against a woman, "he added.

"We congratulate all the people of Venezuela, men and women, boys and girls, who today, November 25, commit to redouble their efforts to eradicate all forms of violence against women," he stressed.

In addition, he sent a message to Venezuelans to continue measures against violence against women and urged to renew the "commitment" to work against these mistreatments.

Every November 25 since 1999, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is celebrated, a date chosen by the UN to honor the memory of the murder of the three Mirabal sisters in 1960.
