The Guidelines Development Group of the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended the use of drugs from common diseases to treat patients infected with covid-19.

Among the drugs approved by the WHO is baricitinib, used as a treatment for arthritis; This may be administered, in combination with corticosteroids, to people who are in a serious or critical condition, since its efficacy in improving the patient's survival has been proven.

While the monoclonal antibody sotrovimab will be used in those who are not seriously ill and in those who have a higher risk of hospitalization due to the virus.

Likewise, the injection of casirivimab and imdevimab, other monoclonal antibodies, in patients in whom the coronavirus did not attack seriously, media reports.

In this sense, he clarified that the implementation of a treatment with monoclonal antibodies over another is not feasible. He also added that its activity against the new omicron variant is not yet known.

The agency's updates come after the evidence provided by seven trials involving more than 4.000 people infected with the coronavirus in a non-serious, serious and critical way.
