Call opens for Young Astronomers Training Program

The call for this distance program is extended to young people from the Educational System throughout the country between 15 and 17 years of age.

The Francisco J. Duarte Astronomy Research Center, CIDA, announced the opening of the national call for the Training Program for the development of scientific-astronomic talent of adolescents aspiring to professionalization in astronomy and astrophysics. Registration for this distance program will take place from this Thursday until next Tuesday, June 25.

The information was released by the Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jimenez, through a message on your account on the social network X.

“We invite you to be part of the new generation of Venezuelan astronomers. From today until next Tuesday, June 25, the national call for the Training Program for Young Astronomers is open,” published the Minister, who invited young people to discover the secrets of the universe.

“Be part of this enriching, exciting experience. Venture to explore the mysteries of the cosmos with the help of professionals in the area,” he added.

In this regard, he explained that the details of this call are obtained by scanning the QR code that appears in the program promotion, or on the institution's website: https://cida.org.ve .

The call to participate in this distance program is extended to young people between 15 and 17 years of age from the National Educational System interested in astronomy.

Four months of training for young astronomers

With the objective of foster interest and passion for astronomy and astrophysics from an early age, the Program developed in the context of the Great Science Mission
Technology and Innovation Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán, will provide the tools
and knowledge necessary for academic and professional development in these fields, CIDA states on its portal.

The Training Program for the development of scientific-astronomical talent of adolescents aspiring to professionalization in astronomy and astrophysics will be carried out remotely, virtually, for four consecutive months, during which participants will have the opportunity to interact with teachers and other students through a web platform.

It includes five modules: introduction to astronomy and astrophysics; the physics of astronomy; the mathematics of astronomy; didactic modeling and exercise resources for high competence.

The training will be provided by experts in research and teaching in the field of astronomy and astrophysics, CIDA said.
