The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, announced that the country has been working on containing the Delta variant since the first case was registered in the national territory.

He recalled that last July the first two cases of the delta variant were registered in the country, which were admitted by people who came from abroad. In this sense, the Government took corresponding isolation measures and there have been no infections derived from the people who are being treated.

He announced this Friday that a new case has just been reported in the Caricuao parish, in Caracas, which has been appropriately isolated to avoid infections.

He said that special measures may be taken within the 7 + 7 plan to prevent the spread of the dangerous variant of the coronavirus, considered much more contagious and lethal than those previously registered.
