The Bolivarian Government, on Tuesday, decorated the delegation of doctors from the Republic of Cuba, present in the country, for the support they have given the Venezuelan people in the fight against the covid-19 pandemic, which has affected the entire territory national.
With the imposition of the Francisco de Miranda Order in its first and third class, the work that doctors have been doing for five months in Venezuela was recognized.
From the headquarters of the Vice Presidency of the Republic, the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, made the recognition and expressed the deep gratitude of Venezuela for the humility with which Cuban doctors have arrived in the country. The ceremony was also attended by the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Jorge Arreaza, and the Doctor, José Betancourt, Director of the Ministry of Health of Cuba.
«Five months ago when the specialists in internal medicine arrived in the country, we were taking the first steps in the Pandemic. Without asking they arrived and have been deployed throughout the country for 5 months without distinction and without complaint helping people, "he said.
Rodríguez explained that these doctors were the ones who proposed the idea of going house to house gathering information on diagnoses.
“When we saw their work methodology and they asked us to go through the sectors, we accepted it. I remember that they told us that the damage had already been done because Venezuela had received people from outside. Together with us they prepared to serve the people and from there they have not stopped, "he explained.
He highlighted that there are more than 22 thousand doctors who have been deployed throughout the country since March 13 of this year. "Since we received them, we have listened to their proposals, the voice of experience and wisdom, I do not know anything more sublime than the Cuban Medical Mission deployed on the planet", Rodríguez reaffirmed.
He recalled that the Cuban nation has been supporting Venezuela from the attacks from the US "While the US and the Venezuelan right send mercenaries to attack us, Cuban doctors come to save lives," he said.
The activity was attended by the Director of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, José Ernesto Betancourt, and the head of the Cuban Missions in Venezuela, Julio García.
It is important to highlight the relationship of brotherhood and solidarity that both peoples maintain, even more so in the midst of the current health situation the world is going through due to the situation produced by the deadly virus.
This pandemic is an opportunity to strengthen the feeling of solidarity and mutual cooperation, in the face of the persistent attacks that both nations suffer from the Government of the United States and its allies, showing respect for the self-determination of the peoples and non-interference in the internal affairs of free and sovereign nations.
Cuban doctors have been deployed in various countries to reinforce public attention against covid-19, demonstrating its humanistic character.
