77% of the cases detected in the last 24 hours are imported

The Minister of Communication and Information, Jorge Rodríguez, reported this Sunday that in the last 24 hours, 167 cases of covid-19 were registered in the country.

He specified that 39 of the cases are community-based and 128 are imported, which represents 77% of the total detected in the last 24 hours.

Of the imported cases, 120 are Venezuelans from Colombia; 1 compatriot from Brazil, 1 compatriot from Ecuador and 2 who returned from Peru; as well as 4 cases that occurred due to contact with an international traveler. He added that to date 63.484 compatriots have entered through the border crossings, of which 3.104 have tested positive for Covid-19 through mass screening. 

Regarding community cases, he explained that 22 are located in the Capital District; 14 in the Táchira state; 1 in the Miranda state; 1 in the Trujillo state and 1 in the Monagas state.

Likewise, Rodríguez reported the unfortunate death of two people during the last day, which brings the number of deaths from coronavirus in Venezuela to 44.

This is a 48-year-old woman, residing in the Maracaibo municipality with a history of illnesses, who arrived at the health system 10 days after starting symptoms, and presented a cardiorespiratory arrest that led to her death. And another 68-year-old lady, who was infected by a relative, - residing in the El Paraíso parish, with significant health conditions, including breast cancer, who presented a cardiorespiratory arrest that led to her death.

Minister Rodríguez indicated that 5297 confirmed cases of covid-19 have been presented in the country, of which 3604 are active, and 1649 have been recovered.

Of the 3604 active cases, 3558 are being attended by the public health system (2.965 are admitted to hospitals and 593 to Comprehensive Diagnostic Centers (CDI), which represents 98,72%; and 46 patients, that is, 1,28% are being cared for in private clinics.

Of the active patients, - he said, 3134 are asymptomatic, 447 have mild severe acute failure, 13 moderate severe acute failure and 10 severe acute failure. 

He indicated that a total of 1.240.181 tests have been applied in the country, which represents 41.339 tests per million inhabitants.
