Cristina Fernández was sentenced to six years in prison and perpetual disqualification

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, expressed this Wednesday his solidarity with the Vice President of Argentina, Cristina Fernández de Kichner, after the sentence of six years in prison against her.

Through his account on the social network Twitter, the Venezuelan head of state pointed out that the events against the vice president are a "permanent media and political persecution."

“From Venezuela we express our firm rejection of the permanent media and political persecution to which the Vice President @CFKArgentina has been subjected. Sooner rather than later the truth will prevail and the voice of the Argentine people will be respected. #TodosConCristina”, wrote the National President.

This is the first time in the history of that country that a court condemns a vice president in office.

The court found her guilty of the crime of fraudulent administration to the detriment of the public administration by directing road public works contracts to the companies of Lázaro Báez in Santa Cruz.

ALBA-TCP condemns attack against democracy in Argentina

The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP) condemned the sentence against the vice president of Argentina, and asserted that this sentence is an attack against the country's democracy.

The Court will announce the grounds of the ruling on March 9, 2023, after which the defense and the prosecution will have 10 days to present their appeals before the Federal Chamber of Criminal Cassation.
