A total of 116 kilos of marijuana were seized by officials of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) in a procedure carried out at the Citizen Service Point (PAC) on the José Antonio Páez highway (JAP) in the city of Barinas.
Major General Eliécer Meléndez, commander of the 32-Barinas Comprehensive Defense Operational Zone, reported that the drug was transported in 199 panels hidden in the tank and spare tires from a Triton-type truck.
The military chief said that the operation was carried out at 9:30 in the morning of this Saturday, after reviewing the vehicle and detecting the cargo from Colombia bound for the country's capital.
In this case, two citizens were detained, who were left under the orders of the Public Ministry.
For his part, Major General Leonardo Vinci Bonetto, head of the GNB in the entity, stressed that so far this year they have managed to seize more than 400 kilos of cocaine and 180 kilos of marijuana.
