Venezuela registers 1.101 new cases of covid-19

The growth of cases has been stimulated by the arrival of the Brazilian variant

The Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez reported that the balance of this Sunday showed the detection of 1,101 new cases of covid-19 in the country, 1,062 due to community transmission and 39 confirmed infections in people from abroad.

During her speech at the working day led by President Nicolás Maduro, the vice president indicated that 18 entities registered cases, the five with the highest number of infections being Caracas with 247, followed by Yaracuy with 154; Falcón with 113; Miranda with 112 and Aragua with 97.

He indicated that during this month of April 14,390 cases have been registered as a consequence of the arrival of the Brazilian variants that contain a higher viral load.

Regarding the deceased, he reported that 19 deaths were recorded, Miranda being the entity with the highest number with 10 fatalities as a result of this virus.

In this regard, President Maduro during the reading of the weekly report warned about the increase in cases in Sucre, Carabobo, Cojedes, Yaracuy, Mérida and Trujillo, while the state with the highest incidence of cases per inhabitant is La Guaira with 351 infections per every 100,000.

With these figures, Venezuela accumulates 174,887 confirmed cases of which 157,486 have recovered (90%), 1,778 have died and 15,623 are still receiving treatment.
