The World's Largest Orchestra receives a replica of the Liberator's sword

This Saturday, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, delivered the Order "Libertadoras y Libertadores de Venezuela" to the National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela, in its First Class, for achieving the Guinness record as the largest orchestra of the world, reported Presidential Press

From the Simón Bolívar Room, in the Miraflores Palace, the Head of State and Government presented the decoration to Eduardo Méndez, Executive Director of the “Simón Bolívar” Musical Foundation.

Earlier, the national president highlighted through his social networks the record achieved by the National System of Orchestras. "That pride! The System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela has achieved this, we are a Guinness Record as the Largest Orchestra in the World. Congratulations to the more than 12 thousand musicians, to their directors. They have given our country tremendous joy ”.

Last Saturday, November 13, more than 12 thousand musicians from different parts of the country gathered to play the Slavic March, by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Guinness World Records accredited independent supervisors as well as music specialist witnesses evaluated the performance of the piece of music.

Since September 2019, this record was held by an orchestra from the Gazprom Oil Company's Social Initiatives Fund, which with 8 musicians established - at that time - the achievement in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

The dignitary was accompanied by Cilia Flores, first Combatant of the Republic and deputy of the National Assembly, Delcy Rodríguez, Executive Vice President of the Republic, Ernesto Villegas Poljak, Minister of Popular Power for Culture, among other authorities.
