Maduro: Payment to Covax was with resources that the US had kidnapped

Through this mechanism, Venezuela will be able to acquire just over 11 million vaccines

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, indicated that Venezuela has the capital to pay 100% of the resources for the acquisition of just over 11 million vaccines through the Covax mechanism.

During an address where he presented the balance of covid-19 in the country, the national president revealed that the first disbursement for the payment of this mechanism of the World Health Organization (WHO) was with resources that were seized by the Federal Reserve of the United States.

"The first disbursement for vaccines through Covax was the release of money that was seized by the US and they were deposited in francs because if we did it in dollars the Federal Reserve and the Guaidosista right would steal it," he said.

"We have already got the rest to pay for the totality of the little more than 11 million vaccines for Venezuela," he added and announced that in the next few hours he will contact the person in charge of the Covax mechanism to ensure a rapid response to Venezuela.

"That represents a little more than 20% of the vaccines that Venezuela requires, but we are going to continue making efforts to guarantee 100% of the vaccines that the country needs," he emphasized and asked Vice President Delcy Rodríguez to maintain pressure against the Reserve Federal "to release all the money that belongs to Venezuelans."
