Lula: Brazil reconnects with the world and is starting in Celac

CELAC member countries celebrated the return of Brazil to the multilateral organization.

The president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, said Tuesday that with the return to the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (celac), the nation reconnects with the world.

"Brazil is reconnecting with the world and we are starting this new path in Celac, together with the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. Let's grow together!" Da Silva said on his Twitter account.

In this regard, the president recalled the Brazilian intellectual and politician Darcy Ribeiro and his fight for unity in the region.

«Darcy Ribeiro was one of the first to speak of our unity in diversity and to point out the civilizing contribution that our region has to give to the world. It is with this feeling that Brazil returns to CELAC, with the feeling of those who rediscover themselves”, he stressed on the social network.

On the other hand, the Brazilian president thanked the solidarity of all nations, before the attempted coup that took place on January 8, when supporters of Jair Bolsonaro assaulted the headquarters of public institutions.

«I would like to take advantage here to thank all those who have sided with Brazil and Brazilian institutions in recent days in repudiation of the anti-democratic acts in Brasilia. We are a peaceful region that rejects extremism, terrorism and political violence," he stressed.

For their part, all CELAC member countries celebrated the return of Brazil to the multilateral organization.

"Without a doubt, a CELAC without Brazil is a much more empty CELAC, with which its presence today completes us", asserted the president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, quoted by Minci press release.
