They analyze the impact of sanctions on self-managed production

The Minister of Science and Technology explained that a line of research addresses more than 500 records of self-managed production experiences in the food field.

Researchers from the Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research (IVIC) are carrying out research work on self-managed production experiences to learn how the covid-19 pandemic and the economic blockade of the country were affecting them.

This was reported by the Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, through her account that the ways in which they offer resistance and build economic alternatives were analyzed.

“Self-managed production in Venezuela represents a model of economic development that focuses on the initiative and control of communities over productive processes. This approach seeks to promote greater equity and sustainability, aligning with the principles of the social and solidarity economy,” said the minister.

Similarly, Jiménez also pointed out that due to the impact of the Unilateral Coercive Measures (MCU), imposed by the US Government, many communities have resorted to self-management to satisfy their basic needs, especially in the food sector.
