The mayor of the Arismendi municipality, Alí Romero Farías, asked the Nueva Esparta State Government to transfer powers to the municipality of some regional assets of cultural and historical interest with the intention of increasing efficiency and putting said facilities at the service of the population. .
Romero highlighted that among the requested assets are the Santa Lucía Theater, the Monsignor Nicolás Eugenio Navarro House of Culture of La Asunción, the Francisco Verde Rojas Gymnasium and the Santa Rosa Castle. He added that the latter, currently administered by the Regional Tourism Corporation, will be subjected to a study of legal status.
He revealed that it also includes a property of the state that the inhabitants of La Asunción know as the old Procurement of Medicine and the State Carpentry, facilities that were part of the colonial temple of San Pedro Mártir. He added that the intention is to house the municipal library and the library of subjects of Assumption authors, as well as the headquarters of the Institute of Cultural Historical Research of Arismendi and the office of the city's chronicler.
"We appreciate the cordial, attentive, respectful way to build with the regional executive an inter-institutional cooperation plan that Governor Morel Rodríguez has expressed and we consider that this cooperation policy of the organs of the public powers will be very beneficial."
