The Venezuelan Film Festival opened its seventeenth edition yesterday, in a live broadcast through the YouTube platform, in which actors, actresses, and directors of the films in competition, as well as members of the jury, participated.
Followed by a sample of posters from the past 16 editions of the festival, Karina Gómez, director of the meeting, referred to the importance that the approval of the Film Law has had for the industry 30 years ago.
"Thanks to that law we have been doing the festival for 17 years, we have cinema that is being shown in all parts of the world and we have a cinema that is showing the beauty that is made and there is in our country," he said.
This edition of the festival returns to his native Mérida, after a year absent due to the covid-19 pandemic.
The encounter with Venezuelan cinema will offer today the films: Direction Opposite by Alejandro Bellame, La Causa by Andrés Figueredo, Misión H2O by Álvaro Cáceres, El Father Play himself by Mo Scarpelli, Historia de un amor funnebre by Carlos Labbad, as well as the exhibition of competing universities.
The festival will be held until September 25 in semi-virtual mode. The program is published on the website: www.festivaldelcinevenezolano.com.
