The Cojedes 3rd Trial Court issued a 30-year prison sentence for Jonás Hanini Mercado López (41), a baseball teacher accused of committing abuses against nine minors, sources from the judicial system said.
Mercado López was arrested on April 9, 2019 at the San Carlos baseball stadium (Cojedes) after being denounced by several representatives of the victims. On that occasion, the Public Ministry charged him with the crimes of sexual abuse with penetration in a degree of continuity and threats. The Court accepted such accusation and decreed deprivation of liberty for the subject.
The trial against Mercado López began on February 6 and ended on December 1, when the maximum sentence was announced. The subject is being held at the headquarters of the Cicpc-San Carlos. The Court established the Carabobo Penitentiary Center located in Tocuyito (Car) as the detention site, the source said.
According to the investigations of the Public Ministry, Mercado López took advantage of his status as a baseball coach to sexually abuse his students.
Damned spiritist. In another criminal proceeding, the Yaracuy 3rd Trial Court sentenced Alonso Rafael Querales Hernández (18) to 27 years in prison for sexually abusing a 17-year-old adolescent. The 8th Prosecutor's Office charged him with sexual abuse and the 3rd Trial Court sentenced him to 18 years in prison. The subject must pay the sentence at the Yaracuy Judicial Confinement Center.
Abusers In another event, Cicpc-Maracay (Ara) agents detained Endy Alexander Croquer (46), who was denounced because he allegedly sexually abused two adolescents whom he had threatened, as reflected in the review of the scientific police posted on their networks .
And in San Cristóbal (Tac) officials of the municipal delegation arrested Carlos Adolfo Monsalve Vivas (41), who allegedly committed sexual abuse against his three nieces, 15, 14 and 11 years old. The subject was requested by the 1st Control Court of Táchira for the crime of Violence Against Women.
Monsalve Vivas was captured in the La Mina de San Josecito (Tac) sector.
The subject took advantage of being the brother of the victims' mother, to abuse them, taking advantage of the fact that they lived in the same home.
The 15-year-old was beaten with a strap and it is as a result of this fact that the girls' mother heard their testimony and went to the Cicpc.
