In the Corozal neighborhood, in the Páez municipality, in Apure state, a house caught fire causing the death of five minors, four girls and one boy.
Security agencies arrived at the site after receiving a call informing that a house in the town was on fire.
The neighbors detailed that the children were playing from early hours in the community in celebration of Christmas Eve, then they went to sleep, while their father went out to buy hamburgers since their mother was working.
They point out that the house, made of zinc and palm trees, quickly caught fire so that the efforts of family members and residents of the sector were unable to rescue children between the ages of 1 and 6.
"I want to express my condolences to the family and the Corozal community, in the face of this unfortunate fire that took the lives of 5 children," said the mayor of the Páez municipality, José María Romero.
Romero said that the investigations confirm the death of these minors by suffocation, and the investigations will continue. He also indicated that the community and family members will continue to be supported.
