The American rapper DMX, famous for his raw and gritty songs, died last Friday at the age of 50 in a hospital on the outskirts of New York, where he had been in critical condition for a week, reported relatives of the artist.
The musician, whose real name was Earl Simmons, one of the great figures of hip-hop of the late 90s and early 2000s, had been hospitalized in the White Plains hospital, north of New York, after suffering a heart attack, AFP review.
The family issued a statement that was widely shared on social media. "Earl was a warrior who fought to the end," reads the statement, which specifies that the artist died surrounded by his loved ones.
