Enluis Montes debuts at the Hollywood Bowl

The Venezuelan director Enluis Montes will be one of the guests of the program with which the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, whose director is Gustavo Dudamel, will resume its face-to-face activities after the cancellations due to the coronavirus pandemic. It will begin on July 3 next and will conclude on September 28.

Montes will be at the head of the Philharmonic on July 22, conducting three pieces: Santa Cruz de Pacairigua, by Evencio Castellanos; Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2 and Tchaikovsky's Little Russia. “This program makes me very excited because debuting with a Venezuelan work is something with meaning for me. In addition, it is the first time that the orchestra will perform it. Likewise, Tchaikovsky's because it was one of the teacher's (José Antonio) Abreu's favorites, ”he said.

Although it is his first time in the aforementioned venue, it will be the fourth that he shares with the orchestra. “It is a pleasure to debut there, especially because of the very special circumstance we have. I always dreamed of directing on big stages since I was little, but I never thought it could come so soon. In addition, it makes it more special because I am going to debut with a work by a Venezuelan ”.

And precisely with music from his land he prepares his new project: two streams of Venezuelan music played from a stage.
