Break everything: the history of rock in Latin America is the documentary series that will premiere today on Netflix to tell in six chapters “how a fashionable rhythm of the 50s became the language of young people and then stopped being a thing Anglo to become something really ours, "said Gustavo Santaolalla, one of its executive producers.
From an invaluable archive material and interviews with the protagonists of the genre in the region, the documentary investigates the origin and spirit of rock in Spanish, and shows how the social and political context influenced each period of its history and in the lives and songs of the artists.
Charly García, Fito Páez, Litto Nebbia, Julieta Venegas, Andrés Calamaro, Zeta Bosio, Ricardo Mollo, Rubén Albarrán. Richard Coleman, Vicentico, Claudio Gabis, Billy Bond, Nito Mestre and Fabiana Cantilo are some of the almost 100 musicians that appear in the series that took two years of research and work.
The series goes from the origins of rock in Castilian in the early 60's to the present.
