Spanish Prime Minister and Socialist leader Pedro Sánchez described Argentine President Javier Milei as "one of the main leaders of the far-right international movement", a movement that "denies" science and women's rights during a socialist event held in Barcelona as part of the campaign for the European elections on June 9.
"Spanish society represents everything they detest and hate," said Sánchez, referring to the "far-right international" that will meet this Sunday in Madrid at an event convened by the Spanish party Vox, with the participation of Milei, among other foreign guests.
"It is feminism, social justice, the dignity of the workforce, a strong welfare state, democracy," the Spanish leader explained.
He said he does not want "the men in black with their scissors or the far right with their chainsaws to return," he said, referring, on the one hand, to the strict austerity measures imposed by the European Union since 2012 due to the severe economic crisis at the time, and on the other hand, to Milei, who campaigned with a chainsaw in her hands.
Sánchez, on the other hand, prefers "more social Europe, coexistence, social justice."
At the presentation of his book 'El camino del Libertario', Milei said this Friday in Madrid that the idea of social justice is "aberrant, of "resentful" and "envious" people, and implies "unequal" treatment before the law.
During his current stay in Spain, he is not expected to meet with any national authority, following the recent diplomatic crisis between the Spanish government and Milei, when the Minister of Transport, the socialist Óscar Puente, suggested that the Argentine president takes "substances," reports EFE.
