"Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in combat," reads the presidential message.

Also the head of the Donetsk region imposed by Moscow, Denis Pushilin, thanked the Russian Army for taking the Ukrainian bastion, located a few kilometers from the regional capital of the same name and controlled by Moscow since 2014.

"On behalf of all the inhabitants of Donbas, I thank our troops, our army, and our president for the fact that the Donetsk People's Republic continues to liberate itself and Avdivka is with us," he wrote in his Telegram.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry stressed that only a few Ukrainian formations managed to leave Avdivka, "abandoning their weapons and military equipment."

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated today that the actions of his country's troops on the front are only limited by the lack of ammunition and long-range missiles from the West, which allows Russia to adapt to the situation on the ground. of battle.

"Our actions are limited only by the effectiveness and reach of our forces. Avdivka is proof of that," he said, following the withdrawal of kyiv's troops from the eastern city.
