The US Attorney's Office on Thursday declassified documents revealing Jeffrey Epstein's contact list, including figures such as Mick Jagger, Naomi Campbell, Bill Clinton and former Colombian President Andrés Pastrana. The 200-page files confirm trips on his plane and meetings, while pressure increases to clarify the network of the deceased pedophile, accused of sexually trafficking minors.
The US government on Thursday released a list of about 200 pages containing names of politicians, celebrities and businessmen linked to financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was convicted of sex trafficking of minors before his death in 2019.
Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed the declassification, but warned that most of the documents had already been leaked. “The first phase contains known information, but it is now official,” she said, demanding that the FBI hand over “thousands” of additional files by Friday.
Notable names include Mick Jagger, Michael Jackson, Alec Baldwin, Naomi Campbell, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo and former Colombian President Andrés Pastrana, who traveled on Epstein’s private plane, according to the records. Pastrana faced criticism in 2020 for using the “Lolita Express” — which has been linked to transporting victims — though he insisted his 2003 trip to Cuba with Epstein was “diplomatic.”
Former President Bill Clinton also appears in multiple testimonies. Johanna Sjoberg, one of the victims, testified that Epstein told her that Clinton “likes them young, referring to women.” Ghislaine Maxwell, an accomplice of Epstein, confirmed that Clinton traveled on the jet, although she did not know how often. Clinton defended in 2019 that her trips to Africa in the 2000s were “humanitarian” and that she cut ties with the tycoon upon learning of his crimes.
The curious “disappearance” of Trump
People magazine claims to have had access to the flight logs and the name of US President Donald Trump appears on them on seven occasions. However, curiously, the name of the president does not appear in this batch. On the contrary, they justify that the appearance of someone's name on the flight logs is not an indication of any irregularity.
Trump, who was in office when Epstein was arrested in 2019, suggested while campaigning last year that he would seek to open government files.
The Justice Department also released a list of massage therapists with parts redacted and an evidence list that showed entries for more than 150 items, including nude images, massage tables, sex toys and other objects. There was no indication whether the list came from the Epstein case, the Maxwell case or some other investigation.
Epstein was accused of sexually abusing dozens of underage girls in the early 2000s but ended up serving just 13 months in prison. He was indicted on federal charges in New York in 2019, more than a decade after he secretly struck a deal with federal prosecutors in Florida to get rid of similar sex trafficking charges. Epstein committed suicide in August 2019 in a New York jail weeks after being arrested by federal agents on sex trafficking charges.
The case has attracted widespread attention because of Epstein and his ex-partner Ghislaine Maxwell's ties to royalty, presidents and billionaires. Maxwell herself is the daughter of the late British media mogul Robert Maxwell, who owned the New York Daily News.
