In Caicara de Maturín, Cedeño municipality, Monagas state, the ninth Mercal store was inaugurated after a complete renovation. The facility has the capacity to store 70,16 tons of food, according to the mayor of the jurisdiction, Daniel Monteverde.
The local leader specified that the relevant families in the four parishes of the Cedeño municipality will benefit and that the distributed items are of national production through the Communal Agro-Food Plan to guarantee the supply of the population.
Monteverde also stated that the work included the conditioning and painting of the infrastructure, air conditioning in the shelving area, and the provision of furniture.
The event was attended by Beatriz Jiménez, territorial director of the Ministry of Food, and Miguel Guzmán, head of Mercal in Monagas. Jiménez emphasized that the renovation was made possible thanks to the efforts of acting president Delcy Rodríguez, the work of Minister Carlos Leal Tellería, and the support of Governor Ernesto Luna.
"Mercal is reborn to serve the people of Cedeño and we will continue working to keep this space one hundred percent supplied," Jiménez asserted.
