Motorcycle taxi drivers promote road safety awareness campaign in Monagas

More than 70 motorcycle taxi drivers were deployed in Maturín and took the preventative campaign to the 13 municipalities of the state.

More than 70 motorcycle taxi drivers belonging to the National Union of Socialist Transportation Collectives in Venezuela (SNCSTV) took to the streets of Maturín to launch a major road safety awareness campaign. Under the slogan "If you start your motorcycle, don't turn off your life," the union reaffirmed its commitment to prevention and the safety of all residents of Monagas state.

The activity, centered on Juncal Avenue and three of the busiest traffic light intersections in the Monagas capital, is part of a massive deployment that is being carried out simultaneously in the 13 municipalities of the region.

John Ordóñez, president of the Tricolor Association affiliated with the Sncstv, explained that the street takeover seeks to promote prudence and respect for traffic laws and indicated that the group “Los Hijos de Dios” was located at the intersection of Libertador and Bicentenario avenues; “Invencibles de Plata” took the intersection of Juncal with Bolívar; while the “Halcones de Plata por Venezuela” were deployed on Raúl Leoni avenue.

"We are carrying an awareness message to all citizens and to our colleagues who use motorcycle-type vehicles, so that they respect traffic signs and use safety helmets, both the driver and the passenger," he emphasized.

The union representative stated that the main objective is to reduce the accident rate that overwhelms Dr. Manuel Núñez Tovar Hospital. He made a special appeal to young drivers between the ages of 18 and 23 to be more responsible behind the wheel and invited law enforcement agencies to work together with the group.
