Electoral centers activated in Mérida for indigenous elections

This Wednesday three electoral centers opened their doors in Mérida, for the original communities of the state to choose their deputy before the National Assembly (AN) of Venezuela, a process that involves 28 indigenous communities and 45 spokesmen for the settlements.

The process is an appendix to the 2020 parliamentary elections, organized by the National Electoral Council (CNE), to renew the national parliament, which will be installed as of January 5.

In Mérida, the indigenous election takes place in the electoral centers Unidad Educativa Tovar of the Alberto Adriani municipality; at the Luis Enrique Márquez Barillas Bolivarian High School in Sucre municipality, and at the Manuel Briceño High School in the Tulio Febres Cordero municipality.

CNE sources confirmed to the media the smooth opening of the three voting centers, scheduled in the process agenda for 10:30 in the morning.

Citizens from the Wayúu, Orkás, Quinanoque, Quinaroes, Caces, Guazábara, Mucumbú and Timotes communities are some of the ethnic groupings (people - nation) that take part in this chapter of the 2020 parliamentary elections, the Venezuelan News Agency reported.
