Inspection and patrol operations will continue for the next few hours, and so far no damage has been reported.

Following the seismic activity recorded in the state of Mérida this Thursday, Governor Arnaldo Sánchez reported that, so far, no human or material losses have been reported in the state, while a broad preventive deployment remains active to assess possible damage.

Sánchez explained that the care and prevention teams are deployed in the 253 communes and communal circuits of the state, in coordination with the commanders of the Integral Defense Areas (ADI), with the purpose of carrying out review and verification work in the 23 municipalities.

He also announced that inspection and patrol work will continue during the next few hours, with special attention to areas where high-rise buildings are concentrated.

“We will continue to carry out inspections, reviews, and patrols, including in the foundations and buildings we have here in the state, guaranteeing the care and life of each and every one of the people of Mérida,” he emphasized.

The governor added that, simultaneously, Civil Protection specialists, scientists, and engineers are conducting technical analyses related to the seismic footprint recorded during the month of August, with the aim of establishing preventive actions and reducing risks in the event of subsequent movements.
