The Chilean Immigration and Immigration Law that came into force last February establishes several migratory categories, among them is the Temporary Permanence that replaces the tourist visa and is granted to foreigners who wish to enter Chile without the intention of residing in it and whose stay does not exceed 90 days.
In the case of Venezuelans; as well as Cubans, Haitians, Dominicans, among other foreigners, in order to enter Chile, they must previously request a Temporary Stay visa at the Chilean consulate in their country.
The National Migration Service of Chile in its @MigracionesCL account tweeted this Monday: “They do not require a Visa to enter and stay in Chile, without the intention of establishing themselves, whoever does so as a holder of Temporary Permanence. Yes, prior authorization is required for nationals of countries such as Venezuela, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Dominica, among others.”
In addition, @MigracionesCL published the list of countries that require prior authorization detailing the cost of the permanence visa fees, which in the case of Venezuelans indicates that it is 50 dollars.
The visa or temporary residence permit does not allow paid activities, except in exceptional cases, authorized by the National Migration Service, in the case of specific and sporadic activities.
“The transitory stay visa can be valid for up to 10 years. When granting, the number of admissions allowed will be indicated. If these are not indicated, it will be understood that an unlimited number of entries are authorized during the validity period of the visa. The foregoing is in the process of being adapted,” says the Chilean consular services website.
Requirements for the Temporary Stay Visa in Chile:
Venezuelans who opt for the transitory stay visa must submit a visa application to the SAC Ciudadanos de Chile system and attach the following requirements, as detailed on the Consular Services website of this country:
- SAC form: Complete the form in SAC Ciudadanos indicating the reason for the trip.
- Photograph: color photograph, 5×5 cm, passport size, with a white background, whose full face and front face are 3/4 of the photograph.
- Passport: Passport personalization sheet. In the case of Venezuelans, passports issued before 2013, with or without extension, are not recognized as valid by the Chilean State.
- Economic Accreditation: Documents that prove their own economic means, that allow their permanence in Chile, during the period of validity of their permit, as well as that of the people subject to their dependency that accompany them.
- Hotel/Lodging reservation that can be verified.
- Accreditation of the place where the applicant is located in case of making his request in a consulate of a country other than that of his nationality.
- Do not have entry prohibitions to Chile, in accordance with Chilean immigration regulations.
Minimum age restriction
Minors must travel with their legal representatives and otherwise they must have written authorization from one of them, the court or the competent authority, as appropriate and must be legalized before the Chilean consular authority in the country of origin, or accompanied by the corresponding apostille certificate, or be a document recognized as valid by the Chilean border control authorities, by virtue of the international agreements signed by Chile and that are in force.
The consulates may summon people to an interview and collect additional information in order to rule out a possible migratory or residence purpose.
Likewise, they may require the presentation of a criminal record certificate, both from the foreigner's country of origin and from his or her residence.
Before granting the visa, the applicant must present an exit ticket that allows his departure from Chile to his country of origin or residence with data to be able to verify it on the website of the corresponding airline, cruise ship or land company.
The granting of the visa will be carried out, after payment of the corresponding rights, by issuing an e-visa, which you will receive in the email account used in the SAC form, or by stamping on the passport that must be managed at the respective consular office.
Reason for the trip
In the registration or document through which the visa is granted, the reason for the trip indicated by the foreigner at the time of making their visa application will be recorded.
It is prevented that, if said reason differs from the one declared at the time of entering the country or it is accredited by the controlling authority that it does not correspond to the one indicated in your application, said authority may prevent your entry into the territory of Chile.
All the details about the processing of the Temporary Stay Visa They are found on the website of the Consular Offices of the Chilean Government.
Migratory Subcategories of Temporary Permanence
The subcategories of the transitory stay visa listed by the migration service are:
-Foreigners who enter the country for recreational, sports, health, study, business management, family or other similar purposes.
- Crew members of ships, aircraft or land or rail transport vehicles belonging to companies engaged in the international transport of passengers and cargo.
-Permits contemplated in the international transfers that Chile has signed and are in force.
