The Administrative Service of Identification, Migration, and Foreigners (Saime) announced this Tuesday the activation of a "new technological platform" that will allow it to resume its services after overcoming platform failures that lasted several weeks.
"Thanks to the data support and the profound transformation of Saime's systems, we have been able to establish and activate a novel technological platform that will allow this institution to resume its services without foreign technological constraints, which have served to harm the Venezuelan people," he said in a statement.
Citizens with pending appointments, explained Saime, will receive an email rescheduling their appointment starting next week, and passports and extensions processed within the country will soon be available for pickup at the corresponding offices and at Venezuelan consulates around the world.
Saime denounced that the failures in its system were due to the "perverse and pernicious impact caused by the technological blockade against the country."
"The Saime, committed to the Venezuelan people, continues to guarantee all services to our citizens despite the unilateral coercive measures imposed on our nation," he added.
The institution affirmed that the people will continue to demonstrate their ability to "overcome and conquer all the difficulties imposed" against Venezuela.
