The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, ordered the preparation of a special plan to decontaminate Lake Maracaibo from the oil spills that occurred in its basin.
El first president recognized that it has received complaints on the issue of oil spills on Lake Maracaibo and how they have affected the fishing communities, as well as the habitat that surrounds it.
For this reason, he ordered "an in-depth technical-scientific study" with the support of scientists, technicians, and the Ministers of Ecosocialism, Oil, and Fisheries; and the Vice President of Public Services, Néstor Reverol.
“I have prepared a plan that I want to activate and I am announcing it for Zulia, a special care, decontamination and recovery plan for Lake Maracaibo,” Maduro said, appointing General Néstor Reverol as head of the plan.
The head of state asked for the full support of the governor of Zulia, Manuel Rosales, whom he thanked for his presence at the event, and the mayor of Maracaibo Rafael Ramírez, as well as the local leaders of the western state.
“We are going to enter the lake. We are going to go into it in depth, seriously despite the sanctions, the blockade, we will give birth to resources, but Lake Maracaibo, a beautiful lake, has to be recovered, we have to recover it, that is how I consider it, and what we set out to do, we achieved, sooner or later we achieved it”, he emphasized.
Monumental Park for the people of Maracaibo
On the other hand, the president Maduro announced the construction of a Monumental Park for the inhabitants of the Zulia capital that will bear the name of the pro-independence heroine Ana María Campos.
“It will occupy part of the east and west of Maracaibo (…) This park will have 33 hectares. It will have 5 lagoons, with exercise and lagoon sports. It will have a capacity for one million four hundred thousand people. It's going to be a great park,” he revealed.
The head of the Executive explained that the recreational facility will unite the sports axis of the Pachencho Romero and Luis Aparicio stadiums, as well as the educational axis of the University of Zulia. Also, it will have walkways for the family, 14 sports fields, a park for pets and a park for boys and girls with disabilities.
"The image has been made from the Venezuela Bella mission, based on wuayúu fabrics and colors," he highlighted. In addition, Maduro expects that the first 2023 hectares of the park will be delivered by the end of 8.
“Our country has to be a country that builds towards the future. Build a new prosperity. Rebuild the social welfare state and we have to do that together, "she stressed.
He noted that rulers must "rule for the happiness, well-being, and protection of all the people as a whole, beyond partisan, political, or ideological differences."
