They commemorate the 163rd anniversary of the Cry of the Federation

This Sunday, authorities commemorated the 163 years of the Cry of the Federation, in Ezequiel Zamora Park, Caracas, to pay tribute to the heroes and heroines of freedom, highlighted the mayor of the Libertador municipality, Carmen Meléndez, through Twitter.

“We have come in a police-military civic union to Ezequiel Zamora Park, a place of battles and victories, to pay tribute to the heroes and heroines who fought for our freedom,” she said.

Meléndez stressed that Ezequiel Zamora was a fighter who was always on the side of the poor and who confronted the oligarchy, and in his honor they placed an apamate tree as a "living offering that will grow on behalf of those of us who work daily for peace." the mayor stated.

Likewise, it meant that after 163 years, Caracas continues in battle in transformation as a cultural capital and with rehabilitated historical spaces that will be delivered to the people in the coming days.

In this regard, the mayor stressed that the Ezequiel Zamora Park will be an emblematic point for organized communities and social movements.

It will host activities that will transform it into a historical and tourist route for the people of Caracas, Venezuela and the world, she said.

Federation Day marked the outbreak of the Federal War, the second most important milestone of the XNUMXth century in the formation of Venezuela as a nation.

It occurred on February 20, 1859 after the taking of the Cuartel de Coro, with Tirso Salaverría and other leaders of the movement such as Zamora and Juan Crisóstomo Falcón.
