The National Institute of Aquatic Spaces (INEA) and the Hydrography, Oceanography, Meteorology and Nautical Cartography Service (SHN) reported this Wednesday the suspension of the departure of smaller vessels in the states of Monagas, Sucre, Nueva Esparta and DeltaAmacuro, as well as in the Insular territory and the Federal Dependencies.
The measure applies to smaller vessels including fishing, recreational, sports and passenger vessels.
Through a statement published on the INEA Twitter account, it is indicated that the measure will be taken until atmospheric conditions improve, caused by the passage of tropical wave number 41, which could become a tropical depression.
Specifically, they indicate that this system will be interacting with the Intertropical Convergence Zone, generating in the coastal area strong rains with probable storm activity and strong gusts of wind.
In addition, high waves can occur for a short period, reaching up to 2,4 meters in height.
The statement indicates that the system is expected to be affecting the eastern Caribbean and the coastal zone during the night hours of this Wednesday.
Given this, the Notice to sailors published by the INEA suggests to be attentive to the weather conditions.
"The tropical wave is expected to affect the eastern Caribbean and coastal areas during the evening hours of this Wednesday. Sailing of small vessels (fishing, recreational, sporting, and passenger) is suspended in #Monagas #Sucre #NuevaEsparta and #DeltaAmacuro until improvements in weather conditions are determined. Stay alert!" says the accompanying text. release.
