They recover roads affected by the rains in Trujillo

With machinery they carry out river dredging, debris removal, recovery of edge faults, among others.

After the effects generated by heavy rainfall in the state of Trujillo, the Bolivarian government maintains a large amount of machinery deployed such as minishover, payloader, jumbo, backhoes, among other types of pushing devices in order to free obstructed roads.

This was reported by the director of infrastructure for the governor's office, Henry González, who also explained that thanks to the support of the Ministry of Transportation, the state received "the baskets that will allow us to recover a large part of the edge failures caused by the rains."

Likewise, he pointed out that in the Monte Carmelo municipality, specifically in the sectors most affected by the rains such as Santa María del Horcón, La Valerana and La Caimana, work is being done on the dredging of the Pocó River, which overflowed and affected more than 300 families.

"We have machinery at different points in the river area so we can dredge and restore the river's normal course," he emphasized.

Progress on the Betijoque-Sabana de Mendoza road

Regarding the works on the Betijoque road section from the Rafael Rangel municipality to Sabana de Mendoza in the Sucre municipality, González stated that they are making considerable progress with the articulation of the national, regional and municipal governments.

"The Betijoque-Sabana de Mendoza highway is one of the hardest hit by the recent rains. New concrete drainage pipes were installed there, replacing the existing metal ones. We will soon reopen the road to vehicular traffic because major infrastructure work is underway," he explained.

Among the works that have been carried out on this road are the construction of a ramp for the installation of the new rings, the excavation and dredging at the highest point of affectation, the removal of more than 390 tons of sediment and the weeding of 13,5 kilometers of road section.

González also referred to the Pampán-Boconó road, trunk 007, specifically in the Los Caracoles sector, which has been hit not only by heavy rainfall but also by the geological fault.

"There's a permanent seismic fault there. We have machinery from the Ministry of Transportation on permanent duty. A complete survey is being conducted with the Ministries and the regional government to create a new bypass (...) This would prevent that passage, because that area is like a sponge when it rains. The machinery has helped us allow vehicular passage when it's blocked by rain, in addition to the support of the police officers who are always there," he added.

It was learned that work is also being done on road recovery in the La Flecha sector of the La Puerta parish, Valera municipality.

Impacts on the drinking water service

The director of infrastructure reported the progress in the recovery of the pumping and purification system of the aqueduct of the city of Valera, which favors the inhabitants of this municipality and San Rafael de Carvajal.

He recalled that Governor Gerardo Márquez requested the acquisition of large-scale equipment to improve the pumping systems at the Santo Domingo plant and the purification system at the Valera plant.

"At the Santo Domingo pumping station, there was only one pump. Thanks to Governor Gerardo Márquez's efforts, we've already installed three pumps, and in the coming days we'll install a fourth. We also managed to install the filter gallery at the water treatment plant, where we can now say the water is safe to drink," he stated.

He explained that nearly 3 million bolivars have been invested in this aqueduct. "This arduous work, partially interrupted by the rains and the turbidity of the Motatán River, has shut down the plant, but we have restored service. This year, we should have a high percentage of the water service problem resolved," he said.

However, he recalled that the state government through the Maintenance, Cleaning and Ornament Company (Emao) serves the population of Valerana and Carvajal with tank trucks through a schedule, specifically in communities where the service of water is difficult. piped water.

González added that this water system recovery plan is also addressing the Mesetas de Chimpire sector of the Carvajal municipality with the activation of a well, as well as the Antonio Nicolás Briceño sector. "These wells will be converted into fillers to serve nearby points," he stated.
