Sidewalks and Curbs | Reflect on architecture

When reviewing the architecture built in the name of modernity during the last century in our country, it is observed how the function that the built fact should fulfill was valued, its geographical location for the use of the breeze and the protection of the sun in the most climates warm, its relationship with the urban environment and who was the recipient of the work.

Progressively, with the growth of populated centers, the development of regulatory plans and their zoning ordinances led to increases in urban density in the central areas, which meant destruction of existing building heritage, that is, of collective memory and the installation of new public services necessary for the growing population.

Among them, the general provision of electricity for all.

This facilitated that the new buildings followed the aesthetic fashions of design from other countries and in some cases materials were used on the facades that responded to other climatic realities, which favored the purchase of air conditioning for office buildings, shopping centers, public institutions, even , multi-family homes.

Today, the country suffers from an electrical service crisis and frequently failures or electricity is rationed by area, leading to serious consequences for living and working conditions in cities.

Hence it is important to reflect, in the classrooms of the universities, where the future professionals are, about the architecture that the country requires today.
