More than 1.500 hatchlings have been released in La Sabana

The beaches of La Guaira, in the Caruao parish, receive four species of sea turtles

During this turtle spawning season, which began in April, some 1.500 hatchlings have been released on the beaches of La Sabana, in La Guaira, where turtle turtles come to leave their nests, reported turtle keeper Braulio Castillo.

The beaches of La Guaira, specifically in the Caruao parish, receive four species of sea turtles, such as Cardón, Carey, Loggerhead and Green Turtle, considered threatened and endangered species.

This weekend 33 baby turtles of the Cardón species were released. The show had the participation of children and adults who went to the beach, who enjoyed taking the hatchlings, throwing them into the sea and seeing how they ran dragged by the waves.

La Sabana is a place where turtle turtles go mainly during the spawning season, which is why the protectors request a declaration of protection for this beach.

Although they have managed to stop the entry of rustics to the shores of the beaches, however the eggs are still at risk of being looted by predators, which still visit the sands. Castillo indicated that they are still waiting for the birth of other hatchlings before the spawning season ends next month.
