The residents of the Casa Bera commercial and residential complex, located on Urdaneta Avenue, at the height of La Candelaria square, have experienced a real journey since last December 30, when the Corpoelec transformer that supplied electricity to the building exploded.
Currently, the property is supplied with electrical energy through a transformer provided by Corpoelec, but the neighbors are the ones who bear the costs of maintaining the plant.
"After the explosion, we held meetings with the competent agencies, we requested a technical report to find out the reasons for the fact, but Corpoelec assures that it does not know the reasons that generated the transformer explosion," Ronald Gutiérrez told Últimas Noticias.
"The maintenance of the plant is the responsibility of the neighbors, more than a million bolivars are spent weekly to buy the oil and diesel that the equipment carries," he added.
For his part, Helenys Patiño, stated that the explosion also caused the breakage of a water pipe in front of the building and caused the opening of a large hole in the sidewalk that is just outside Casa Bera.
"In the building we have people with disabilities, older adults and health problems, it is necessary for Corpoelec to help us with the repair of the transformer, we do not have quality of life because the water pump does not work, nor the elevators," added the resident. from Casa Bera.
The neighbors pointed out that during the registered blackouts, several people recently fell into the hole and, consequently, they ask the competent agencies to solve the repair of the pit, because it entails a great danger for passers-by.
