With a project and a book they honor the Oath of Monte Sacro in Italy

A community proposal aims to transform Monte Sacro into a diffuse museum about Simón Bolívar and his historic oath.

The head of the Diplomatic Mission of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Italy, María Elena Uzzo, attended the presentation of two publications that constitute outstanding initiatives exalting the legacy of Simón Bolívar, in the Council Chamber of the Roma III Montesacro Municipality.

The first work is represented by the project "Simón Bolívar Diffuse Museum and the Sacred Mountain," by Ennio Melandri, which was built in Simón Bolívar Park and presented as a cultural trail.

The second was the presentation of the book "Simón Bolívar and the Oath on the Sacred Mountain," by writers Giuseppe Lattanzi and Pamela Di Andrea, a publication that analyzes the historic oath and Bolívar from the perspective of Italian researchers.

The presentation was an initiative of the Mayor's Office of Rome, the Association for Social Promotion (LIMES), ASL Roma 1, and the Idea Prisma 82 Cooperative, community organizations that work in the municipality of Monte Sacro, a symbolic site for the independence of Venezuela and other South American countries.

Also present were diplomatic representatives from the Colombian and Bolivian embassies, professors, archaeologists, architects, historians, and representatives of civil society and local residents.

The vice president of the Monte Sacro Roma III municipality, Paola Llari, presented the idea of the diffuse museum (a type of museum used only in Italy and which allows the historical significance of the places where they are held to be rediscovered) and its connection with the history of Simón Bolívar, a proposal that will be possible thanks to collaborative networks that will redefine this place, where Simón Bolívar's presence will be notable.

“I would like to express my gratitude, on behalf of the government, represented by President Nicolás Maduro, for always keeping Bolívar's name high in the community of Monte Sacro. This community reminds us a lot of our Venezuelan communities. There's a different atmosphere, there's humanity, there's organization,” said Uzzo, the Venezuelan senior diplomat.

He emphasized that "Bolívar's decision to come here in 1805 was the right one, given all that this historic place gave him." He added that "the book dedicated to the Liberator is a great surprise, because every time we read Simón Bolívar's name in Italy, it moves us, especially this year, when the 220th anniversary of his oath of office will be celebrated."

He concluded by saying, "We are confident that these activities will be added to the many initiatives that will be consolidated in the program to celebrate the 220th anniversary of the Oath, which we will jointly design."

These initiatives, born with the intention of doing something special for the park's residents and visitors, spread the word throughout the community about the figure of Simón Bolívar, his relationship with Monte Sacro, and the value this important Latin American figure has brought to the municipality.

“The inhabitants of Monte Sacro breathe the same air that Bolívar breathed!” With these words from Professor Giuseppe Lattanzi, the meeting concluded.
