The Ministry of Health carried out a fumigation campaign in the parishes of La Guaira

The deployment "includes a specialized contingent of fumigators and health inspectors

Venezuela's Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday an intensive deployment of fumigation and sanitary control in several parishes of La Guaira, the state most devastated by the double earthquake of June 24.

The day includes fumigation, spraying, disinfection and rodent control, aimed at curbing the proliferation of mosquitoes and other vector agents "after the recent environmental contingencies".

The operation, which primarily covers the eastern, central and western axes of the entity, including the sectors of Caraballeda, La Guaira and Macuto, has the active participation of specialized teams made up of fumigators and health inspectors from La Guaira, Capital District, Aragua and Miranda.

The deployment "includes a specialized contingent of fumigators and health inspectors organized into work teams, who strategically and simultaneously cover the sectors addressed to mitigate epidemiological risks in the area," the Ministry of Health said in a statement.

This process will be carried out with greater emphasis in the parishes of Caraballeda, La Guaira and Macuto, areas of La Guaira affected by the double seismic event that has left 5.278 dead and 17.907 people without homes.

According to Nelare Bermúdez, the sole health authority of La Guaira state, to date the team has protected more than 16.000 people in communities, field hospitals, and several of the 28 temporary camps in the state, where 12.123 people live, according to the latest official report.
