The Superintendency of Banking Sector Institutions (Sudeban) issued an official statement this Friday to inform the public about the complete normality of financial operations during the start of Holy Week.
The regulatory body assured that on Monday, March 30, Tuesday, March 31, and Wednesday, April 1, 2026, all banking institutions in the country will operate without interruption, thus guaranteeing access to essential services before the holidays corresponding to Holy Thursday and Good Friday.
The measure aims to facilitate economic transactions during a period when national mobility traditionally increases due to the holiday. By keeping banks open during the first three days of the week, Sudeban allows both individuals and businesses to carry out their financial transactions, deposits, and payroll payments smoothly before the cessation of banking activities for the religious and national holidays.
Full availability of financial services
According to the schedule detailed in the statement, Venezuelan banks will maintain four fundamental areas of focus during this initial block of the week.
First, in-person service will operate during the regular hours of all agencies and branches nationwide. This will allow users to complete in-person transactions requiring physical validation or document submission before the midweek break.
Likewise, digital banking (web platforms and mobile applications) will remain operational 24 hours a day throughout the season. Sudeban reminded the public that payment systems, including electronic transfers, interbank mobile payments, and points of sale, will be active and constantly monitored, which is vital for commercial activity in tourist and residential areas at the start of the holiday season.
Cash and self-service guaranteed
Another key point in the official communication is the availability of the ATM network. The regulatory body has instructed banking institutions to ensure the supply of cash and the operational status of self-service terminals, anticipating an increase in cash withdrawals by vacationers. “We reiterate our commitment to ensuring the provision of efficient and secure service for the financial activities of all users,” the statement from the agency reads.
This technical planning adheres to the oversight protocols that Sudeban applies to ensure the payment system does not experience bottlenecks during periods of high seasonal demand. Constant monitoring of the technological platforms will allow for the resolution of any issues in real time, ensuring that the start of the holiday period is not affected by limitations in access to funds or failures at point-of-sale terminals.
Sudeban urges the public to preferentially use digital channels to expedite their transactions.
