GOL will resume flights between São Paulo and Caracas on March 8

With the reopening announcement, several companies have resumed operations

Brazilian airline GOL announced this Friday that it will resume its flights between São Paulo and Caracas on March 8, which were suspended last November due to the US military offensive and a security alert issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The route had been inaugurated in August 2025, but was interrupted just three months later, in parallel with the suspension of operations by most international airlines in Venezuela. The National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) then revoked the flight permits of several foreign companies, amid the restrictions that preceded the military invasion launched by the United States on January 3.

GOL's return comes after the announcement by US President Donald Trump, who on January 29 confirmed the reopening of air connections with Venezuela, following a phone call with acting president Delcy Rodríguez. The president stated that "all airlines are welcome in the country."

Suspension and reopening of international routes

The suspension of flights in November affected most international airlines operating in Venezuela, creating a temporary air isolation. The FAA's decision was based on security risks linked to the political and military context in the region. With the announcement of reopening, several companies have resumed operations. The Colombian airline Wingo restarted its flights from Bogotá to Caracas on January 16, while Avianca plans to restart its routes on February 12.

Impact on regional connectivity

The reactivation of the São Paulo-Caracas route by GOL strengthens air connectivity between Venezuela and Brazil, considered strategic for trade and tourism. The measure also contributes to normalizing international traffic to Caracas after months of restrictions. The return of international airlines is interpreted as a step toward the recovery of regional mobility, in a political context marked by tensions, negotiations, and calls for dialogue.
