Chacao Mayor's Office makes progress in the recovery of 400 apartments affected by the double earthquake

Through the "We work so you can come home" Plan, 50 homes have been recovered and delivered to senior citizens.

The mayor of the Chacao municipality, Gustavo Duque, reported that recovery efforts continue on 400 apartments affected by the double earthquake.

This was reported by Duque during a tour in Los Palos Grandes as part of the plan "We work so that you can return home", where he highlighted that to date they have managed to recover and deliver 50 apartments.

"In this first stage we are attending to apartments with moderate and severe damage belonging to people over 65 years of age; we have delivered 50 apartments and are working on 400 of them," he specified.

The mayor of Chacao recently clarified that will allocate resources for recovery of homes of elderly people affected by the earthquake.

Earlier in this regard, the Mayor stated in a radio interview that the municipality needs $20 million to advance the housing recovery efforts.

“I estimate that the repairs in Chacao should cost around 20 million dollars to be able to absolutely fulfill everything, to leave all 5.500 apartments in good condition, the 49 damaged buildings and the 168 buildings affected in their common areas,” Duque emphasized.

Duque also said he plans to announce new programs to provide construction materials to homeowners willing to carry out repairs themselves, in order to expedite the return of families to their homes.
