The president of the General Staff for the Creation of Temporary Camps, Jorge Rodríguez, stated that "the connectivity that unites Venezuela with the world will remain strong with the activation of the temporary terminals at Maiquetía International Airport."
In a message released this Sunday through his social media, Rodríguez indicated that they are closely monitoring each operation "to guarantee efficient service, while we work on the recovery of the airport terminal."
The shared video shows President Delcy Rodríguez, along with the Chief of Staff for the Temporary Camps, Jorge Rodríguez, and the Minister of Transportation, Francisco Garcés, touring the facilities prepared to ensure the airport's proper functioning. The airport will begin operations with international flights on September 1st. The video also shows a large waiting area, the check-in counters of the various airlines, and the staff who will assist travelers.
It is worth remembering that the Simón Bolívar National and International Airport, located in the state of La Guaira, suffered serious damage after the earthquakes of June 24, which is why its operation was suspended.
Steps to follow at the airport
Airport authorities detailed the procedure that passengers must follow in these temporary terminals.
The journey begins with disembarking in the lower area of the airport, corresponding to the traditional domestic terminal. From this point, access for companions is suspended, and proceeding along the ramp to the temporary terminals is reserved exclusively for passengers. After passing through the security checkpoint of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB), the passenger completes pre-check-in with the airline and verifies their information at the counter for checked baggage claim. Subsequently, they proceed through immigration and have their carry-on baggage inspected. Finally, the passenger remains in the waiting area until being transferred by bus to the departure ramp to board the aircraft.
