The Presidential Commission for the recovery of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) is moving forward with the refurbishment work at the Central Western Region Nucleus in Barquisimeto, fulfilling the commitments agreed with the Architecture Student Center of UDE.FAU.
To ensure control and quality at the work sites, a supervisory committee was formed, comprised of the General Coordinator and professors Máximo Izarra, from the Design department, and Guillermo León, a Technology specialist. This was announced by the Commission on its Instagram account.
The top managerial authority of the campus, Professor Melissa Parra, specified that the project covers a large area, noting that "the works include more than 3.000 square meters of roofs distributed in three fundamental structures: the Central Library and the modules corresponding to the areas of Architecture, Education, Faces and Medicine."
It was also highlighted that the intervention will generate a direct and positive impact on the community by ensuring that the work "will directly benefit more than 550 people, including students, teaching staff, administrative staff, workers and security personnel."
On the strictly operational level of the schedule, resident engineer Anthony Natera explained the methodological details planned for the successful completion of the campus improvements.
The specialist explained that "the work is being carried out in phases and will culminate with the general application of a layer of aluminized paint aimed at mitigating the solar impact and prolonging the durability of the conditioning carried out," thus consolidating the infrastructure intended for academic activities.
