Saturation of drainage systems, roofs blown off houses and dozens of fallen trees were left in the wake of tropical wave number 41 in the Barquisimeto-Cabudare metropolitan area and in Trinidad Samuel in the state of Lara, on the night of Wednesday, August 26.
The strong gusts of wind that accompanied the intense rains caused homes located in the parishes of Unión, Cují and Tamaca in the municipality of Iribarren (Barquisimeto) and in the parish of Trinidad Samuel in the town of Pedro León Torres to be left without their lightweight roofs (zinc).
The report on the consequences of the atmospheric phenomenon in the Lara region was offered this Thursday, August 27, by Luis Mujica, director of Civil Protection and Disaster Management (Pcad Lara), who assured that Governor Luis Reyes Reyes requested the social, services and infrastructure diagnostic team to address each case in the jurisdictions where families were affected.
He added that the volume of accumulated water caused saturation in the drainage systems in the central and commercial area of the capital, Barquisimeto, which forced an immediate deployment of officials and machinery from the National Risk Management System, in which firefighters and the People's Guard were also involved.
The population of Lara has at its disposal the telephone lines 0251-2544889, 0251-2543965 and the national emergency number VEN 911 to report any rain-related emergency.
Pcad Lara extended the call to be alert, since what happened is the result of the passage of tropical wave number 41, the activation of the intertropical convergence system and the approach of tropical wave number 42.
