La Guaira allocates $400 for high-cost treatments

A total of 56 patients will benefit from funding for cancer treatments, pacemakers, prostheses, and cardiovascular procedures through the Sala de la Esperanza program.

The governor of La Guaira, José Alejandro Terán, announced the delivery of approximately $400 to finance high-cost medical treatments for 56 patients in the state, as part of the Sala de la Esperanza (Room of Hope) social program.

During a meeting held with the La Guaira Health Foundation, the regional leader highlighted that the resources will cover procedures that, due to their high cost, are inaccessible to many families, including cancer treatments, pacemaker implants, knee and hip prostheses, as well as cardiovascular interventions.

Terán explained that the funds were allocated by the national Executive, through the National Integrated Customs and Tax Administration Service (Seniat), and will guarantee the acquisition of supplies, medical equipment and surgical materials required for each case.

Among the beneficiaries, he mentioned a fisherman from Guairá who requires the implantation of a high-tech pacemaker, whose total cost, including surgery, exceeds $28.

“These are treatments that are beyond the economic means of any working family, and that is why the State assumes this support to guarantee access to health,” he said.

The governor indicated that the most frequent requests correspond to joint prostheses, pacemakers, catheterizations and cancer treatments, especially radiotherapy, a service that is currently not available in the regional public network and that forces patients to go to specialized centers.

He also announced that in the coming days, an additional allocation of more than one million dollars is expected to continue addressing highly complex medical cases in the state.

Terán emphasized that this assistance policy is being developed in parallel with the process of recovery and strengthening of the public health network, which includes rehabilitation work in hospitals, comprehensive diagnostic centers and outpatient clinics in the state.

The Hope Room program is run by the La Guaira Health Foundation and is aimed at providing economic support and comprehensive support to patients who require high-cost specialized treatments.
