Starting in the Sifontes municipality, the administrative capital of Guayana Esequiba, a contingent of at least 50 veterinarians and technical staff from different agricultural institutions toured the properties to meet the goal of vaccinating 10.000 head of cattle against foot-and-mouth disease in the state.
According to information provided by the authorities, the event will serve the populations of San José de Anacoco, San Martín de Turumbang and indigenous villages.
Within a period of two weeks, the team will be able to directly attend to each farm, field or productive space where there are specimens in order to vaccinate them and declare the area free of foot-and-mouth disease.
The governor of Guayana Esequiba, Neil Villamizar, pointed out that the application of this agricultural production policy is part of a coherent plan that seeks to develop activity in the fields and also guarantee healthy consumption for the population.
“We are fulfilling this important task for national production, which has a clear objective: to ensure that Venezuela is declared free of foot-and-mouth disease,” the governor pointed out.
Villamizar emphasized that this vaccination deployment will cover the areas of San Martín de Turumbang, indigenous communities and San José de Anacoco to achieve comprehensive care throughout the entire area.
“From Guayana Esequiba, we are committed to ensuring the development of this project and meeting the goal of 10.000 head of cattle, in order to achieve greater production and large, healthy herds for the people,” commented the regional leader.
The deployment involved officials from the National Institute of Comprehensive Agricultural Health (Insai), veterinary students from the Simón Rodríguez University, and teams from the Secretariat of Agro-productive Transformation of the governor's office.
