Third phase of cataract surgery plan begins in Guárico

In this stage, 184 patients from Calabozo, Camaguán and Guayabal are being treated.

The third phase of the cataract surgery plan has begun in Guárico state, providing free care to 184 people at the Dr. Francisco Urdaneta Delgado Hospital in Calabozo.

The main objective of this event is to respond to the accumulated demand for eye surgeries in the region, restoring sight to patients and significantly improving their quality of life.

This medical deployment is a continuation of two previous phases implemented in the state, which have benefited more than 900 people. The first phase began in March with more than 300 procedures, while the second, carried out in August, added more than 400 operations.

The beneficiaries of this third approach, from Calabozo, Camaguán, and Guayabal, were previously identified through the Good Government's 1x10 system platform and evaluated by the specialist team of Mission Miracle. To ensure surgical success, each patient underwent a protocol of examinations that included visual acuity, intraocular pressure, refraction, microscopy, biometry, and ocular ultrasound.

Mayor Alfreína Álvarez highlighted the importance of the operation, noting that it is the first time surgeries of this type have been performed at the Calabozo healthcare center, a historic achievement for health in the jurisdiction.

After evaluating more than 1.500 men and women from the 15 municipalities since last September, the regional government and Mission Miracle are consolidating coordinated actions to advance the implementation of this surgical plan throughout the state in the coming weeks.
