The Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez announced the start of clinical trials of the new Russian vaccine EpiVacCorona, after the Russian ambassador to our country, Sergey Mélik-Bagdasárov, who received the first dose, volunteered. of this new drug against Covid-19.
From the headquarters of the Executive Vice Presidency, the senior official thanked "our first honorary volunteer for the medical studies of EpiVacCorona, another extraordinary Russian vaccine (...) which is approaching 100% effectiveness. We hope that the people of Venezuela can also be vaccinated with this vaccine, which was produced by a state laboratory, since Russia's technological strength is at the service of humanity."
He went on to say that it is clear that “Sputnik-V has been developed by the Gamaleya Center, which is very prestigious worldwide. Now the Vektor laboratory in Siberia, also recognized internationally, is also adding to this contribution to humanity, so it is a very good vaccine, it is a vaccine made up of synthetic peptides… complicated words, but they simulate small fragments of the virus that strengthen the person’s immune system against the Covid-19 virus.”
«Russia-Venezuela cooperation is a strategic alliance based on brotherhood, cooperation and friendship. He took the opportunity to thank “the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, for allowing Venezuela to participate, as we did from the very beginning with the Sputnik-V vaccine, in the EpiVacCorona medical trials, and we know that other vaccines are in development that we will soon participate in. And to continue with these cooperation mechanisms. I thank Russia, President Vladimir Putin and the Russian people for the extraordinary development they have had with other medicines; we are using favipiravir in Venezuela, which is a very powerful Russian antiviral, we are using it in this second wave and we are seeing very good results. So thank you Russia and Ambassador Sergey Mélik-Bagdasarov, we are thus beginning the EpiVacCorona medical trials in Venezuela.”
On the other hand, the ambassador of the Russian Federation in Venezuela, Sergey Mélik-Bagdasárov, indicated that "it is a pleasure and an honor for me to be present here with this second and new EpiVacCorona vaccine. Along with the visit of the Russian Vice President Yuri Borisov a month ago, some doses of this new vaccine arrived so that the Ministry of Health could evaluate the effectiveness of this other Russian vaccine that will be in production, starting in June, by the state laboratory Vektor."
He also thanked "the Government of Venezuela for facilitating the vaccination of our embassy staff and this is part of the prudent trust with the trials, it is not a blind trust, but it is like a sign of our absolute solidarity."
