This Saturday the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, ordered to revolutionize the National Police System in order to guarantee better citizen security bodies.
During a message to celebrate the National Police Day in Venezuela, the President pointed out that the new police model must have prevention and fusion with the popular movement as pillars.
Regarding the first, he explained that "it is achieved with a firm and continuous education within our security forces in the sense of elevating moral values that make the officer an example to follow for the people."
"The new police must become an articulator of social processes for citizen coexistence, building alternatives for life for youth, supporting the communal economy, supporting training for work, supporting the popularization of sports and culture, these are dimensions that make up our comprehensive vision of security," he said.
As a second element, he pointed out "the fusion with the People, being in the territory together with the People in perfect communication with the leaders of each street, of each neighborhood, of each urbanization throughout the entire national territory, it is the neighbors who guarantee that security transcends the police act and becomes a collective, community priority."
That civic-military-police fusion that is the weapon of our country to overcome threats, repel attacks and defeat enemy plans that have tried in every way to sow violence and death in our country. They have not been able to and will not be able to.
Chavez planted the first steps
The head of state praised the efforts made by President Hugo Chávez regarding the transformation of the police model in Venezuela, which he recalled was marked by repression and the violation of the human rights of humble Venezuelans.
"With the Bolivarian Revolution and thanks to Commander Hugo Chávez, a new national police force was born, which must be, in principle, fair, humanistic, with a great ethical formation, with patriotic values and a social sensitivity that today must make the difference," he stressed.
He added that "there is still much to be done in this regard, but we have certainly left behind some of the obscurantism and all of the repression and violence that was imposed on the people as a perverse dogma of the Fourth Republic."
Threat Alert
Likewise, the President warned about the plans that are still looming against the country, for which he called on the Venezuelan police officers to be vigilant in rejecting and defeating these attempts to destabilize national peace.
«Today's graduation and promotion ceremony should serve to strengthen our commitment and loyalty to the Constitution and the country. Let no one forget what we are capable of doing for the peace of our people and let no one ever rest on the laurels of victories. Our goal is one: national peace, social peace, and for that there is only one way: to defend the people of Venezuela, to defend this sacred soil of our country against all kinds of threats, invasion attempts, or attempts to inoculate criminal groups, criminals in the style of the worst hitman and paramilitary model in Colombia,» he instructed.
