According to The Wall Street Journal, US businessmen only want Maduro to win the presidential election, because they have had indirect conversations with the head of state in the last year.
For this reason, they have pressured President Joe Biden's government to lift economic sanctions against Venezuela.
“If the opposition wins, Venezuela runs the risk of falling into chaos, destroying hopes of restoring the country as one of the world's main oil suppliers,” the businessmen commented to the American media.
